NEMO | Well I'll relate my experience.
Back in 4-H/FFA had some Registered Simmentals. Early 90's timeframe.
The best cow I had was Fleckvieh. She was darker red than all my other Simmental cows.
Her calves flat out grew and were by far superior to any of the other calves, heavier muscled and beefy.
Looking and thinking back on it, a good comparison would be Fleckvieh vs. Simmental at the time would be similar to Horned Hereford vs. Polled Hereford back then. Both are Hereford's but the Horned Hereford was far superior to the Polled Hereford. More muscle, more hardy and all around a better animal. Same could be said about the Fleckvieh, it's a Simmental but better.
As to the disposition, couldn't of asked for better. Calm cow and her best bull calf I showed and kept him and used in the herd. If I remember right he made it to 10 years old when we got rid of him. Got a picture somewhere of my oldest daughter when she was probably 3 or 4 petting him. He didn't have a care in the world.
