Thats a very valid criticism. You dont have to be Christian to live by Christian virtues, which also means the personal baseline level of these virtues, along with expectations of others will be true of all people regardless of religion. Its part of being human. Christianity teaches that sin is in all humans. Me, you, farmer54, the Pope, all sin. That means evil is in everyone too, that Satan's influence is so encompassing that we not only experience it every day but we actively participate in it everyday. Nobody is personally above it. We strive to do better, but we fall short every single day. That is okay, because Christ (who was God) died to forgive all people of this short coming and all future short comings.

So is it all a made up fairytale? No one can prove it or disprove it. Enter faith. You take a look at all the possibilities and chose to believe or not. I had to actually read the scripture as an adult to officially choose to believe. I do believe there is a greater meaning to life and I do believe it is revealed in the Bible. Bit by bit, the answers are there. The books are teaching people how to think deeply, reason rationally, and love without conditions if you actually read for understanding. Unfortunately whenever someone tries to read for validation, the meaning gets lost. Most of the time, we all are reading to validate our own beliefs, in some fashion.

Do Christians judge others and cause more harm than good? Every single day, every single Christian does. So does every human though. They also do good every day if they are a true believer. Like so many things, its a spectrum. Everyone is somewhere in the working on it phase.
