Subject: RE: Heifer's thinking what?

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Are these 44 all heifers? Are there some older experienced cows in the group?

I've heard of large operations calving heifers before cows but I always hope the older cows start calving first to provide a good example to the first timers.

I find mother-daughter pairs tend to stick together much of the time. Seems logical the heifer learns how to be a mom from her dam. And  how much of mothering is a heritable trait?

A benefit to raising your own replacements.
