Did you know the human brain receives a rush of dopamine when it perceives a villain and also when it recognizes a pattern. The rush is so strong that it is human nature to fabricate (or get a rush when others fabricate) a villain. You literally get a pleasure rush from it. Same for recognizing a pattern. You get a rush from recognizing a systematic pattern, and your brain dislikes perceived randomness.
Do corporation do bad, self serving things. Yes, certainly at times.
