Alberta | If the calf is aggressive and wants to suck, get yourself a good set of nylon hobbles and buckle them tight on back legs. If she can still kick or run away, get yourself a quick link and link them 3 or 4 inches inches apart so all she can do is shuffle. Put them in a small pen for a few days to see if she has any interest, if the calf is aggressive, let them in with the rest of the cows. It knows where dinner is and the cow gets tired of trying to get away. I have left hobbles on for a month. when you have 300 cows, you don't have time to dick around with 1 animal every day for an hour.
