Colfax Indiana | I was 10 in 1982 he’s was just south of us in Lebanon. Grew up hearing the story discussed many times. He was in the middle of purchasing 300 acres west of us. Prudential Life insurance took over that farm and my grandfather started farming it. We took all the fences out and helped take old farmstead down . Grandpa farmed it for a few years then got outbid on it. May been a cool story but was disruptive to live around it from all the fallout. Hasn’t been the first one to come from Purdue with a goal to farm it all. Been to several farm sales over the years with same ending over the years.
