ECWI | Yes, after having my prostate removed the oncologist still orders a PSA test every 6 months. After surgery I was assured that the cancer was still contained within the prostate and had not spread.
WHY does my PSA still climb, that is the million dollar question. Neither my urologist, oncologist, or surgeon has ever given me a really solid answer except to hint that some cancer cells apparently did escape and are able to live on. Unfortunately this must happen to a lot more guys than anyone originally tells you about.
Having the actual prostate removed is far from a 100% successful surgery
Then the hormone shots and radiation start.
Not a lot of fun but like I say, I'm still alive to tell the tale. | |
