Subject: Feeding cattle start up

Made a post a few months ago about having an opportunity to rent an old feed yard. The advice from everyone is much appreciated. Ended up getting the place spoken for. Will be going over the whole facility this summer checking posts, gates, walls, etc. Owners are great to work with in keeping things in good shape. We plan on putting our own calves and replacements in to start out this fall. Looking at backgrounding, fattening out, custom feeding, or a combination of all to go along with ours in separate pens. Looking for advice on how to approach any of these situations. Some guys swear by the sale barn, some say find someone to source them for you. Located in Northeast Iowa
