Indiana | I have net metering so my meter runs backwards when I overproduce and it’s stored in the grid and is available for me to use when I need it.
I get fair value for what I sent back to the grid. They changed the law right after I put my panels in where you sell it back to the grid at wholesale and you have to buy it back at retail so each state is different I guess and subject to law changes pending lobbying efforts from the utility.
My panels have generated about 120Mwh since inception. Worth about $25k in electricity. My panels cost around $10k after credits and depreciation. Panels warranty is for 20 years.
