Perhaps then we didn't have the knowledge of just how much electricity was required as we had become more energy dependent. But what did we do with that knowledge?.........we decided to invest in unreliable energy generation.
Im sure that was the case in rural Illinois into maybe the late 90s or even early 2000s. Used to have to drive around to the various farmsteads and gather the 'meter readings' to report back to the electric company to calculate the bill. Probably had auditors who would run out and check from time to time to keep people honest. But no way the coop had the kind of technology to figure demand with precision like they do now. |
