Look like good research and results. Typically find the early planted early maturity beans here do the best as well. You have the occasional fluke where the late season beans catch a cool down period with some moisture but more often than not the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Now early for me might be April 15th with a group 2.3 but for Michigan or Minnesota might be April 30th with a group .9 so it does make a difference. I think sulfur does help on beans from our own experiences for sure. I’m torn on the lower populations below 140k. Sometimes that’s way too much and sometimes it’s too little. If emergence is good it’s too much but if you get caught at a bad rain and have some crusting you might not have enough. I like planting 140k and harvesting 120-125k. Hills definitely gain from the extra seed but good dirt can suffer from stand ability and disease pressure resulting from it. I think variable rate seeding can have a positive ROI on some farms from the yield standpoint alone not only the savings of seed. I’ve watched white mold take 90 bushel beans down to 40 because they fell over early and the disease spread from being planted too thick. Fertilizer just seems too hit or miss on beans to deal with it. I think corn can be the same result but guys are just engrained to think it needs it all the time (myself am guilty in that). Thanks for posting
