I always remember and try to go by two things my Grandpa said to me in my junior high/high school days that kinda makes sense especially the older I get.
1) "Birds of a same feather flock together "
2) "Guilty by association"
Not saying 100% true(ie. your case David), but I believe a high percentage is..... thus the "life warning" from dear Grandpa to me at a much younger age ;)
