Let us know where you want to paddle since there are so many kinds for different water conditions and recreational types. Fishing vs fishing for beers out of a cooler like we do are 2 different endeavors.

With that said we do most of our kayaking on local small rivers that flow decently. Flat water is boring, lakes are boring. To us at least. So we like mid size longer kayaks like 12-14' that glide well and turn easily. We also like our rudders that make our 14 footers turn like a 10 footer. Above all go to a kayak store that has access to a pond or small river where you can try several out. You won't know what you like till you get in or on them and paddle.
