If you are going to use in the ocean(not the Bay of Bothnia off Sweden as it acts like a lake)as in The North Atlantic or the Gulf of America you will want the style with a flip down rudder.This can be turned with your feet.Much easier in tides and big waves.These are not often used in rivers with rocks.
