Alberta
I've been grazing cows and yearlings on semi-arid rangelands for many years. I don't know if it is age or experience but have been trending to grazing bigger fields. Depending on circumstances sometimes season long turnouts. The cows know where the grass is and will rotate themselves. I'm talking about a mid April to December grazing season. The cows spread themselves out in groups of 40 to 50 pairs and I think with extra room their overall health is better. There is a bit of a downside for checking or gathering the herd. Around 300 pairs in the bunch I look after.
