We had a new heifer calve a week early with twins; one might have made it but we didn't get to them soon enough. Leaning towards finding a bottle calf to put on her, but probably won't find one until Monday. My question is whether I need to be milking her to keep her producing, or what is your protocol until you can find a calf? No dairies in this area to call up either.
Yes. Strip her out and freeze the colostrum for backup/reserve. Ideally, you’d strip her 2-3x daily but all depends upon your time and her “cooperation” |
