Yes. I had my own rye seed and found time in the fall, so it wasn't costly to do it. It was a way to add some forage to graze off before the sod had much leaf area, so it didn't do much to slow down the sod's comeback. ....just have to quickly graze off the rye, then stay off it for longer than usual before re-grazing.

EDIT:  but I've only done it 2x in about 20 years.
