PeteMN - 2/16/2026 19:24I have a neighbor that's been raising hogs for a long time, he got wiped out during the Covid packing plant shutdowns. I don't know if that happened to a lot of other guys or if he just wasn't very good at managing his money, I thought he would have built up a lot of equity after that many years.


For us when our plant closed for a few months and no home for mkt. hogs we soon realized not having a buyer is far worse than health issues or poor prices....Wehn covid hit idk if many pork farms had a lot of cash as the prior yrs. were not really profitable as far as having a lot left over after your bills....And hogs like all livestock can wear you down
