A lot of guys aren’t ready yet and the technologies pretty expensive yet but virtual fence is going to change the way a lot of western guys graze. If they graze public lands, they might be forced into it, depending on who their person in charge is. They’re really pushing for it here.


We've actually got an application in with NRCS to run the virtual fencing. I haven't looked a ton into it............but what I have seen, I certainly don't like the ongoing subscription part of the deal. It makes you subject to higher ongoing costs. We didn't get funded last year...........but tried again this time. If we get approved I may still not accept it.............but I will spend more time talking to dealers/etc and get the longer term costs nailed down. Through it all, you obviously still have to get the watering part figured out.
