Or, if you are on a time-of-use plan, you can switch to powering the home on the batteries during the high rate times and charge them back up when rates are lowest, usually through the night.


Without batteries, the grid will shut down when there is a power outage, even if the sun is shining. That didn't make sense to me. They could have put anti backfeed switches in I thought but maybe I don't know what dangers there are.
