In the future, if that happens again, the update is to eliminate the reverser, and replace the carriages with the 'Fasstir' style.
The new ones do not reverse the cross pipe, they have a mechanism in the carriages that change the direction of the in/out travel of the carriages without reversing the tube rotation.
