Good option is outside wood boiler. They are not hard to build yourself from some old propane or diesel tanks plumbed to some radiators. Can burn old stumps and rotten wood and not have fire anywhere near your barn.
Have one heating now that I build myself 5 years ago. Works well and makes lots of heat.
