Subject: RE: tarriffs

When the tariffs were lifted introduced they were supposed to level the playing field and reduce our trade deficit. In actuality after a year the trade deficit remained largely unchanged

Despite the goal of reducing the deficit, the total U.S. trade deficit in 2025 saw only a marginal decrease of about .2%

In fact imports increased by 5 %

The true consequence was the increase in tariff(taxes) upon Americans. This resulted in Trumps own slush fund in which he spent monies

Now Supreme Court has ruled the illegality of some of the tariffs. The billions that will now have to be returned will end up in class action lawsuits by importers. One can guess the possibility of the importers actually passing on the refunded tariffs to its consumers

Howard Lutnik is one of those who stands to make millions, because he bought up rights of importers to sue for getting a refund for 20 cents on the dollar.
