Northeast Iowa | CAB was set up in 1978. Grading standards had been lowered in 1976, primarily because of the increased number of continental cattle that were becoming popular, but didn’t grade well.
The quality grade standards for CAB were what the Choice standards had been prior to the everyone-gets-a-trophy move in 1976.
The Red Angus folks were offered the opportunity to join the CAB brand. They decided they would do their own branding.
