| Anything on the fireline dries out very quickly. I perspire heavily, sweat streaming off the visor of my hat. On the fireline, I’m bone dry. Mucus and ear wax dries and falls out of my nose and ears.
Running my weather meter close to the line, I get 0-5% humidity.
A wetted towel wouldn’t be wetted for long.
The swatters I’ve used are rubber, like a truck flap. Swatting spreads embers. I simply press it over the fire and snuff it. It’s especially useful on prescribed burns, not so much on bigger fires.
