East of Broken Bow | OK, the story I was given, and I will say right up front I have no idea if it is true or not, but anyway there was this young lady who was cooped up for Covid, who decided to make her own film short. Basically, she took the plot of about half of the Sci-Fi movies that were made in the last 20 years, and condensed them into a short movie that lasts like 8-9 minutes.
The story about doing it during Covid seems plausible to me, as she does EVERYTHING in the film. She plays every part in it, and I'm not so sure she even had a cameraman or just used a tripod. Anyway, I thought it was a hugely clever film shot with zero budget special effects (stuff floating around in 'space' is hung from the cieling by a piece of fishing line), and she did a very good job. I'm not sure if you'd call it a parody, or a tribute or what, but it really is an 8 minute version of the cookie-cutter sci-fi outer space movies I've seen too many of.
