Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning.

In 1943, 8 destroyers and 8 transports from the IJN were covered by 100 Zero fighters, as they attempted to reinforce troops on Lae, New Guinea. Allied land based aircraft just absolutely ate the convoy up in the Bismarck Sea. No US Naval forces were required.
My motto is: Don't screw with the USAF or at that time, the USAAF.
