I was told that Dollar General doesn't own any of the buildings they occupy. All are leased.
Can confirm just based on the property records of the 2 within 5 miles of me:
Notice the valuation delta. The lesser is in the corner of a crop field. The greater is in front of the latest apartment complex that signals the boundaries of town. Just broke ground on a Publix grocery across the road and diagonal from it, "town" is rapidly growing in the direction of the DG in the field. Ironically, the Farm Credit just built their new office about midways between the two (also in a field) ahead of the boom getting there.
