That's the way Jeep dealers were when my wife was looking. When I got involved I offered like $5,000 less than sticker, cash. The guy looked at me like I had 2 heads. Told me the price is right here on the sticker. I told him I've never paid list price for anything and I wasn't going to start now. The salesman told us they sell so well they always get list price.

A week later we looked at a used Jeep 3 hours away. I found multiple problems and the price was within $1,000 of the new one. Again we offered less with cash. I got plenty irritated with them and they pretty much threw us out the door.

On the way home we stopped at the dealer with the new Jeep we looked at. My wife decided she would pay list price. We talked to the same salesman and I still tried to deal with him. It just so happened it was the last day of their fiscal year. He told us they had 18 left overs from the previous model year. If they didn't sell them, they had to buy them. So he was ready to deal. In the end we got it for about $7,500 off list. Letting them pick the finance company gave us part if the discount. I really hate car dealers and their sales shenanigans.
