Subject: Ticks and Permethrin Treated Cloths

Central Western VA Mountains
It’s February…

I had a guy out to the farm to look at doing some work, temp close to 60 degrees. Towards the end of our walk around, he saw a tick on his pants leg and just about went into a panic. He said - he had to leave the fields immediately.

Turns out he has Alfa Gal and another tick bite wasn’t a good thing.

He works outdoors and said now that he was seeing a tick(s), he would need to start treating his cloths with Permethrin. Said it repels the ticks.

Anyone using Permethrin on their out door cloths? Pants only or everything?

I get ticks on me almost every day on the farm during the spring and into the hot months. I’m thinking maybe I ought to be proactive and start treating my farm cloths (or buying pre-treated) to be proactive about tick bite prevention.

Permethrin - anyone treating their cloths with it? Is it effective?

Any sage advice is appreciated!
