Subject: Calving barn heat source

We took a 50x100x18 pole building. Completely insulated the walls and ceiling. Built some pens down the side & a maternity area at the one end. Dirt floor and we will use straw bedding.

Six fresh air intakes on the sidewall & 2 exhaust fans in the end wall. Will be used in Feb-April so outside temps from +5 to -25c and everything in between. Likely could fit 30-50 cows comfortably.

We aren’t sure if it needs heat, and if it does what is safe considering the straw & dust. Anyone with a similar setup in a northern climate?
