It took 400 planes from TF 58 2 hours to sink Yamato, granted much more efficient than the entire day long air attack to sink Yamato's sister Mushahi.
Nor did the Japanese have proximity fuses in their AA gunnery.
Both of which pale in comparison to the less than 10 minute salvos from USS Washington at the second naval battle of Guadalcanal and the few minutes it took USS West Virginia at Suriago Strait to both sink Japanese battleships.
