My closest friend, since kindergarten, is married into a multigeneration funeral director family. They provide such a wonderful service for so many people of different backgrounds and belief systems. Covid was a real bear for them, as traditional funerals were pretty much verbotten and the emotional closure for families often didn't happen. I've been blessed to personally know 4 generations of the family, and I don't know yet whether that youngest generation will enter the business or not. But it certainly does take a very special type of person to be able to do that work and that compassionate service.
