NW Washington | I have a friend who tried farming after his dad's early death, but after a few years, he decided farming was not for him, and he married into the funeral home business. He and his wife bought a funeral home some years ago, and he is doing well. I asked if he did cremations, and he said, " Yes, we did over 400 last year."
To each his own.
Edit. I now recall the old Life of Riley television and radio show, and there was one character on the show named "Digger O'Dell, the friendly undertaker."
"Mr. Brown was best known for his role as the somber-voiced Digger O'Dell, the “friendly undertaker,” in the radio and television versions of the "Life of Riley" show. He also had appeared among the sages inhabiting "Allen's Alley" on the late Fred Allen's radio show, as “Thorny,” the obstreperous neighbor on the "Ozzie and Harriet" radio show."
