Eastern NE KS | My old time recommendation to gain heterosis while managing variability in calf crop was 3/4 blood of new breed and 1/4 blood of what your cows are predominantly today. As you pick your new bull, spend extra money on the bull that introduces your desired heterosis but also conform to your breeding goal.
In your case I recommend talking to the breeder and look carefully at the bull from a cow line he/she proudly suggests. Don't allow yourself to be talked a dominant growth or carcass bull. | |
