Thumb of Michigan | Know a local family that been in the business for IDK, 125 years I'm guessing.
The dad (now deceased, mom still alive) bought hay from me 15-20 years ago to feed his Angus herd. I don't remember how many times he told me that he made his money with investments not the funeral home. While standing in his heated barn. His dad or uncle (maybe both) had the business before him. He had 3 kids that are now involved (or retiring), those kids were raised in the house attached to the funeral home. I see now were there the next generation involved in family business. My guess is kid is in his late 30's. So, at least 5 morticians over 3 generations that I know of in that family. There are relatives that own/operate two other funeral homes in separate towns about 12-15 miles away. The family name is on all of them.
Great family, involved in community sponsoring/donating/volunteering. But I do know that nothing gets done without them getting paid first. | |
