Mid MO | Had a coworker who had been a mortician after graduating from college. Went to work for a corporate outfit and they had run her ragged both physically and mentally. Too many hours, too many miles, too much mental strain with no rest or time to process it. I asked her about it one time and she basically indicated that the whole mess was a shake down and cremation was the way to go. The rest was just a money grab to wring cash out of grieving families.
She is a strapping, hard-working, smart gal, with a quirky sense of humor. Raised in church. She prefers a night shift, is a great cook, and likes to go to work, get things done, and be left alone. Working at the sewer plant now, so icky doesn't faze her. | |
