I have struggled with that also. We had a power outage about three weeks ago and I had quite a time getting the printer to be seen by my computer on the WiFi network. I don’t even know what I finally did to make it work again. But in all that effort, I was trying to scan some documents to my computer. I discovered I need to install a scanner in the devices area. I think the option shows up if you go to the printer settings. It can be confusing as to which device is the printer and which is the scanner. I think it names the, the same. So I renamed the scanner appropriately. I never have had good luck with the Brother app to scan back to my computer. I use the built in Scan app in Windows.
