Small town near me had a local grocery store. DG opened and in a few years the grocery store closed. No fresh food like meats, produce, etc. 

Thankfully for the town DG built a new larger building and it became a DG "Market" which I guess is a bigger version that sells some more groceries. At least the town has something again for people to buy the bare minimums of fresh foods again. 

Ironically a Dollar Tree opened in the old grocery store building. I don't think they're doing too well. Another small town down the road has a DG and a DT side by side.
