Subject: RE: Dollar General stores

Western Oregon
We got one here years ago. We went once right after it opened, it was about a mile further from the Ware-mart we shop at. Seems dark and claustrophobic. A few years ago we got a Dollar Tree closer than both it and Ware-mart. With just the 2 of us we liked the smaller portions and all we had to think about, was it worth the $1. Then they went $1.25. Now they have a lot of $1.50 AND up mixed in all over the store. I like a few things, all still $1.25 but fewer all the time AND I can get many things cheaper at Ware-mart that has produce and fresh foods. I like shopping at only 1 store, keeps the impulse junk down and I hate large stores. Ware-mart is a big warehouse store but only about 1/4 the size of Walmart but it is pretty easy just to walk the perimeter and 1 or 2 aisles and get what we need. We haven't been to a Walmart for 10 years since I retired but during covid, we started the delivery thing, and still use it some. We grow most of what we eat, what will grow here with a greenhouse and hoops on raised beds. We like to shop no more than once a month, many times going 3 months. Mostly for non-dairy, fresh and gluten free for the wife. We keep a small pantry of canned goods. We have Bi-mart here, kind of like an employee owned Walmart all kinds of stuff but more like an old general store. It is right next to our bank so drop in if we need to, they do have a nice supply of gluten free foods for the wife. I have been eating more of those, instead of having to buy and keep two separate, of each....James
