Subject: My experience

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I have used Wilger flow columns for many years on our planter. We have a set of 24 for starter fertilizer and another set of 24 for spray. Last year I decided to add the electronic monitoring arrangement. I purchased 48 of their flow meters, wiring and transmit module. I played with it in my basement Lab to get a feel for it

I have a small Onn Android tablet that I tried to use with it. I downloaded the App and it didn't seem to work the way I expected.

Part of my problem was I was unfamiliar with how the App was supposed to work. The other part was that since the screen is small it is difficult to use my fat fingers. One of those pointer things from Wal-Mart did help that. Also some menus were "hidden" off to the side with that version of Android since the screen is so small.

I went back to Wal-Mart and purchased a larger Android tablet but it was a generic model and has its own version of the Android operating system. That did not seem to work either although it might just be my fault.

After talking with Wilger (got the grandson who was very "new" at this), I was informed that I must use a Samsung Galaxy tablet. There is another person at Wilger named Chris who posts here at times. Chris is very knowledgeable as he wrote the owner's manual. Try to get through to him. Hopefully he will catch your post and reply.

With this information, I purchased a new Galaxy for the job and the App seemed to work properly on the bench. At least the screens was larger, it reacted faster and the menus seemed to agree with the documentation. Using the suggested Samsung may not be necessary but is probably a good idea. The original small Onn tablet did not go completely to waste as I use it as a surveillance camera with an app called Alfred. This has nothing to do with the planter at all.

We installed it on the planter but really never got it to work properly. In all honesty we didn't spend much time trying to troubleshoot it. I was puzzled because I had done a fair amount of testing such as literally blowing through the flow meters on the bench and everything seemed fine. With the pressure of needing to continue to plant, we basically just disregarded the system and planted as usual.

We really don't have much problem with either starter or spray so visually observing the flow columns while the tractor is steered by auto steer worked fine as it had in the past. I think for us anyway, the electronic addition was a poor investment.

Since we have it and it is installed, I will attempt to troubleshoot it as part of our preseason checks for this year.

But back to your problem, I haven't messed with the App on my Galaxy lately. I really doubt that your new Galaxy is the problem. I'm really fuzzy on this at the moment but, it seems to me, the operator needs to enter some type of code to gain access to changing the calibration numbers. I believe this is done to prevent you from accidently changing them. Seems like I had some confusion in that area myself. I have my tablet in the basement and should probably play around with it to refresh my memory anyway. I'll try to report back on how it goes.

I will also check on my version number.
