 NW Iowa | I've never seen DDG that low. ours is 28-29 protein.
This is assuming 1400lb cow body score of 5 going to 6 in good weather
Early lactation if they can eat 30lbs of your hay
with 6lbs of distillers that will just hold them, 7 would build .3 lb a day.
300 days to gain one body score
The breds if eating 30lbs of your hay would
hold at 1.5lb of DDG in good weather
2lbs would gain .19 lb
536 days to gain one body score
1200lb cow would need less DDG
Edit- What most guys fail to realize is as that calf grows the rumen has less room.
They can't physically eat as much dry matter.
This is where you have to watch what you think they are consuming.
This is where high protein, high energy rations like DDG, alfalfa, silage come into play.
After they calf they have more room to eat
