Ne Colorado | We have this what we call salt grass here in Ne Colorado. Our cattle and sheep don’t really care for it. It’s getting bad in spots in several of my pastures. We love smooth brome and it usually chokes out that short 3” stuff for the most part. Wish I had 100% smooth brome spring pastures and grama grass summer pastures but one can only dream on 6” of rain. I had considered putting seed in the floor of our compost spreader and putting compost on top of that. And spreading it out there. I’m sure it would broad cast the seed just fine but not sure how well it would incorporate it. It’s been 30 years sence we have put any grass seed down and don’t have our grass drill anymore. Curious what your thoughts would be on the spreader before I start calling on a drill!??
I can’t rely on the cattle to trample the seed in because they skip over the salt grass areas anyway. | |
