Purchased 90 black commercial cows in January. They are mostly angus and angus/simmental I’d guess.
Thinking I’ll AI the lot of them for April 1st calving this coming summer.
Thinking I’ll use LimFlex semen as I don’t plan to keep any daughters out of this next go around. Your thoughts on this?
My goal is to get the best market value I can while keeping calving issues to a minimum. TIA!
Simmys with a Hereford will get you a feather neck discount on even your best steers and heifers. So, I’d run with Oldtiger.
I’ll get in trouble here because my only experience with Limmys was watching Limmy leadsteers during county fair jump fences with the rest of the mid1990’s beef crew chasing after them. They were high strung but would gain weight like crazy. Because of the craziness, Just make sure all heifers go to town….. fight the temptation to keep the “nice” ones back.
Maybe the breed has tamed down now |
