
| That's exactly why we build gas peakers. There's two set's of peakers not far from me, that might run a total of two weeks a year. One is being switched over to diesel so they can run it in the winter. In the winter it takes too much gas from the pipeline and screws up heating use. Edit. There's also a GE Diesel Turbine on the edge of town. Interestingly, the new 800 acre solar project hooked into the same switching station. And around here, right now, it's actually in a lot of cases, the actual utility companies building solar. Not "Green Energy" companies, although some are. AMEREN themselves is building thousands of acres of solar. |
