NE Iowa | Temperament- wise I’ve been getting along good with the Flecks. Had one young bull throw me some attitude but he’s a steer now and headed to freezer camp soon so that problem is fixed. Some of those older German lines have some fire in them I think, but as far as milk, growth, and fertility I’ve been really impressed with the breed.
If you zoom in on the bale grazing picture you can just barely see my fencing. I’m running 2-strand hi tensile fence for the corridor fencing (corridors are 330’ wide). And then I use step in O’Brien posts with a single strand of polywire to give access to one row of bales at a time. In the picture they had access to 4 bales at a time, but this year I was running 60hd on 8 bales at a time. | |
