Solar has a terrible cap factor and wind isn't great. Can you really call nuclear, natural gas, and coal "backup" if they carry the vast majority of the load?

If I had a tractor that worked 10-40% of the time I would sell it. And I certainly wouldn't call it the "cheapest running" unit.
