The fact that you are using an Insight is no different than if you were using any of the newer Ag Leader displays. All systems need a method so the operator can inform the system of their intentions. The wiring and layout are consistent with all the displays in that respect.
This can be handled two ways: 1) the original method was to use a Module called the Auxiliary Input Module. It is typically hidden on the floor or somewhere out of the way.
This is a black box with several ports on it but no display or switches. An Ag Leader switch box, An Ag Leader Single Toggle switch, a Homemade switch box or a cable to connect to OEM switches already in a sprayer are all possibilities to use as inputs to the Auxiliary Input Module. Any of these can be used but some are more appropriate or convenient than others. For example if you were using a Spinner truck with only one boom section, the Ag Leader Switch Box with a Master and 10 switches would work fine but is a bit overkill. If you have a SP sprayer with switches built in, you could use the Ag Leader Switch Box but most operators would prefer to use thw OEM switches which are then rewired to become inputs to the Auxiliary Input Module. These switches together with the configuration determine whether certain things are allowed or prevented.
Another approach to the switch box arrangement is: 2) use Ag Leader's SC110 CAN switch box. This contains the electronics like the Auxiliary Input Module and also has a Master and 10 section switches. This approach is commonly used in situations that have need for several switches and would prefer that everything is in one enclosure to reduce cab clutter.
Personally I have one of each. In my planter tractor, I use the SC110 CAN switch box which reduces my cab clutter. I could and in the past did use an Auxiliary Input Module with a homemade switch box. In my Hagie sprayer I use an Auxiliary Input module and a special cable that intercepts the Hagie wiring. This allow me to use the original Hagie switches rather than needing any extra new switches in the cab.
In an emergency I could swap the switch box arrangement that I have in the tractor into the Hagie and Vice Versa. |
