Subject: RE: Grid tie solar lease rates

I had been getting letters for solar leases weekly with each offer higher than the previous. I'd responded to a few of the more legitimate looking ones and the offers were in the $5000 per acre per year range. This was for 20-30 ac community solar projects. What killed my deal was the power company could not handle additional power in my area. Much of my county is closed to new solar development due to limited power infrastructure. I personally know of a 300 ac utility scale project started before covid that is paying $1200/ac/yr. A more recent community scale project just being completed now is paying mid $2k/ac/yr. There is a solar project currently under construction just down the road from my farm that probably used the capacity I needed. Certainly they got less money than more recent offers but they got in. I was told the BBB eliminated government solar incentives and the letters have stopped.
