The Federal Reserve has a unique ownership structure.

It only exists because Congress says it exists based upon a law past in 1913

the Regional Federal Reserve banks are owned by the Commercial banks, Commercial banks are required to purchase stock in their local Fed. But the Regional Banks do not own the Federal Reserve Bank at all. They provide members who sit on the Federal Open Market Committee which sets monetary policies.

The Federal Reserve is managed by a board of governors who are all appointed by the president and confirmed by the senate.

So in the end no one actually owns the Federal Reserve. Since it only exists because of a law passed by Congress only Congress can fix it or kill it etc. Given how Congress works today there is no chance of it ever doing anything to change the Federal Reserve in my lifetime.

This is the perfect set up for Congress so when the Fed screws up Congress can say it was the Fed and the Fed just says we were doing what Congress told us too do. Its the classic Its not my fault you find in all of government.

Not true. Been proven time and time again. Federal Reserve is privately owned. This has been discussed numerous times on here.

Edit: The fastest way to prove it is privately owned is to understand the difference between a United States note and Federal Reserve note. There have been several books and many chapters of other books proving the Federal Reserve is private.
